- 2 pound ground beef

- 4 tbsp ketchup

On Halloween it is a must to carve a pumpkin. There are always a few pumpkin seeds that you should not throw away. Roasted in the oven they are a wonderful snack and in our recipe, they give the classic cheeseburger a very special crunch.
For the roasted pumpkin seeds:
Hollow out the pumpkin and separate the seeds from the connective tissue. Wash thoroughly under cold running water until there are no more flesh remains between the seeds. Drain well and then mix with the peanut oil and salt, approx. 1 tablespoon of oil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt per cup of seeds.
Then roast in the oven at 320 °F for about 30-40 minutes and turn in between.
For the burgers:
Mix minced beef with salt and pepper and form 4 burger patties. The patties should be about 1/3 bigger than the buns because they will shrink a little bit during grilling.
Preheat the Otto Grill at full power and roast the buns briefly, only until they are golden brown – this is very fast.
Place the patties on the cold grill grate and roast on each side for about 1 minute or until they are browned to the desired degree, on Meat-O-Meter level 2. Then set the Meat-O-Meter to level 5 and cook for another 2 minutes.
Place two slices of cheddar on each burger and melt briefly in the Otto Grill for about 10 seconds.
Assemble the burgers:
For the right Halloween look, cut two triangular eyes into the buns and use a toothpick to attach the stipe of a bell pepper to the bun.
Spread ketchup and mayonnaise on both sides of the buns, salad on the bottom, then the patty with cheddar on top. Cover with tomato, onion, and the roasted pumpkin seeds. Happy Halloween!!!
